Med Steel Company is a new company in the field of steel production and is, indeed, the only such company in the Kurdistan region. Our production facility is based on an area of land of nearly one quarter of a square mile and our steel melting and billet production plant can produce 360,000 tons per year, and the bar milling facility can produce 350,000 tons per year.
We have our own power plant which is of Japanese manufacture and has a capacity of 52MW. Each of the individual engines has a capacity of 8.66MW and runs on heavy fuel oil. The engines run at a slow speed of 750 RPM which means that they have a very long life as the wear and tear is very little. This all helps with sustainability, which is one of our key aims, as we endeavour to keep our carbon footprint to the absolute minimum.
